Perspicuous Hosting
My Own Virtual Dedicated Server - I know what I want.
If you know exactly what you want and don't want to stop to read a little about different hosting options, by all means, please proceed to our
Shared Hosting: Not quite enough.
The most common form of hosting a web presence is through shared hosting. Basically,
you pay someone to place your web page on a server that can make it available
to anyone wanting to access it over the Internet. This works great for people
just getting started or who just want to put up a page as a hobby. It is also
an inexpensive option. You can even find places that will offer shared hosting for free!!
There are some drawbacks though. First of all, the key word to think
about with shared hosting is restrictions. You receive very limited space,
sometimes just a few Megs. And you have little or no control over what services
are available on the server that is hosting your page. For a professional site this
is often inadequate. There are other options listed below - we invite you to check
them out and see what's available. However, if you would like to start with this
option, let us know at shared@perspicuoussolutions.com
and we'll work something out. But before you get too hasty, let's see what else is out there.
Virtual Servers: Just right!
An excellent option for a business or for web designers are virtual
servers. This option falls in between; you get control of the machine you are on, but
you don't have the cost of the fully dedicated server. We want you to be sure that
you understand your responsibility when you subscribe to our service. You have
full access to a server that is persistent connection to the Internet. For
all practical purposes, you have root access to your own Linux system. You can install
what you need to provide the web presence you want (there are a few guidelines
mentioned in our Terms of Service -
please check them out). This option is often thought to be prohibitively expensive. In
fact, it is not! Check out what we offer on our
Dedicated Servers: Big Time solution.
On the other end of the spectrum are dedicated servers. These are actual hardware
machines managed by you and dedicated to your business or to act as a shared
host for hobbyists or individuals. This is the Cadillac option, but there
are a few things to consider here as well. First is expense. You could easily
be talking hundreds of dollars a month just to enter this arena. Secondly, you
have to think about the management of the machines. You are responsible for
making sure the power doesn't go out or there aren't Internet interruptions and
so on. We currently don't offer this service because of the logistics. If you
feel you may need this, let's talk about it dedicated@perspicuoussolutions.com
